The head of the Mississippi Community College Board has stepped down.

In a news release, the MSCCB announced that it has accepted the resignation of Executive Director Dr. Andrea Mayfield, effective immediately. Mayfield has served in the role since December 1, 2015.

“Since 1996, Dr. Andrea Mayfield has dedicated her professional career to community colleges,” John Pigott, chair of the Mississippi Community College Board, said.  “We appreciate her commitment to the system and wish her the best in the future.”

As the Board begins the search process for a new leader, Kell Smith has been named as the interim-Executive Director. Smith has been with the Mississippi Community College Board since 2008 and currently serves as the Director of Communications and Legislative Services.
