Ukraine receives assistance from Mississippi

A Ukrainian governor has received some assistance from Mississippi Lt. Governor Delbert Hosemann.

During an interview with SuperTalk Mississippi on Monday morning, Hosemann explained that he recently received a call from Serhiy Hamaliy of Khmelnytskyi, which is an oblast far enough to the west of Kyiv that it hasn’t shelled like some other areas of Ukraine. There are currently hundreds of thousands of refugees in the area.

“I asked him what we can do to help this butchering that is going on by the Russians? And he said well we’re really interested in Katrina houses and how you were able to provide housing for people afterward. Our houses have been destroyed all over Ukraine,” Hosemann said.

Hosemann was able to get all the plans for Hurricane Katrina together and send them over to him. But that’s just the beginning. The lieutenant governor was also asked about food for the refugees. He then talked to folks at the Mississippi Farm Bureau Federation about that, and they’ve already started the process of figuring out what they can do to help.

During his interview with Paul Gallo, Hosemann also discussed the ballot initiative, funding for roads and bridges, ARPA money, tax relief, trooper raises, and much more. The two discuss Ukraine at 23:30.
