Five of Mississippi’s top college baseball players gathered on Monday at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame with the C Spire Ferriss Trophy up for grabs. When it was all said and done, Southern Miss pitcher Tanner Hall hoisted the trophy.

Hall was selected as the winner over Ole Miss’ Tim Elko, Mississippi State’s R.J. Yeager, Delta State’s Harrison Haley, and Belhaven’s Brett Sanchez.

In 15 regular season starts, Hall compiled a 7-2 record with a 2.68 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. His 120 strikeouts were the eighth-most in the NCAA. On top of all of that, the sophomore right-hander only gave up 10 walks over 87 1/3 innings.

Hall joins Tyler Koelling, James McMahan, and Nick Sandlin as the only Golden Eagles to win the award.

Southern Miss and Ole Miss both projected to make regionals
