The Conference USA has announced its superlative awards for the 2022 season and unsurprisingly Southern Miss is well-represented among them.

Starting with Scott Berry, the Golden Eagles’ longtime skipper was named Conference USA Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career. Southern Miss finished the regular season 23-7 in conference play and 41-14 overall under Berry’s leadership.

Pitching coach Christian Ostrander was named Assistant Coach of the Year for the second straight year, guiding the Golden Eagles’ pitching staff to the nation’s second-best ERA (3.08).

Ostrander’s ace, Tanner Hall, was awarded the league’s Pitcher of the Year honor after a 7-2 season on the mound. Hall, who also picked up the Ferriss Trophy as Mississippi’s top player this week, had a 2.68 ERA and 120 strikeouts. His strikeout-to-walk ratio of 12.00 was the second-best in Division I.

The Golden Eagles had three pitchers named to the All-Conference first team in Hall, Hurston Waldrep, and Landon Harper. Infielder Dustin Dickerson earned second-team honors while outfielder Carson Paetow earned all-freshman honors.

Southern Miss will be back in action on Wednesday when they take on UAB in the first round of the Conference USA Tournament.
