Amazon’s newest Mississippi fulfillment center is set to open on July 18.

The 700,000-square-foot facility, which will be located in Canton, will lead to the creation of 1,000 full-time jobs, with “industry-leading pay and comprehensive benefits.” This will be Amazon’s third facility in Mississippi and the first facility to feature Amazon’s innovative robotics technology.

“The fact that Amazon has chosen to invest in Mississippi again is a testament to the unmatched work ethic and dedication Mississippians exhibit each day,” Governor Tate Reeves said when plans for the fulfillment center were announced in November 2020. “We are well-positioned to be a leader in logistics, and I want to thank the leadership in Madison County and at Amazon for bringing more than 1,000 jobs to the area.”

Amazon also operates facilities in Byhalia and Olive Branch.

According to the Mississippi Development Authority, the fulfillment center will house the majority of the sortable goods sold by Amazon. Associates will pick, pack, and ship customers’ orders alongside robots, allowing for a more efficient process that will enable Amazon to more efficiently meet consumer demand.

Applications for employment are expected to open in the coming weeks.
