A historic church in Oxford was destroyed by a fire on Saturday night.

College Hill Presbyterian Church, known as the oldest church in the Oxford area and the marriage place of Estelle and William Faulkner, burned for four hours before fire crews were able to fully put out the blaze.

Founded in 1835, College Hill’s pulpit, pews, and pew gates were the original furnishings.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
