Mississippi has now surpassed 900,000 total cases of COVID-19 since the onset of the pandemic.
The latest report from the Mississippi State Department of Health, which includes 1,534 recorded cases from Thursday, brings the state’s total number of cases to 900,888 since March 11, 2020. With the confirmation of seven deaths, 12,758 Mississippians have now passed away due to the virus.
Currently, Mississippi is averaging the fifth most cases per capita in the U.S. behind Kentucky, West Virginia, Alaska, and Alabama. Mississippi is also one of the least vaccinated states in the U.S. with Alabama and Wyoming being the only two ahead of the Magnolia State.
