Ole Miss dropped one spot to No. 22 in the first Associated Press college football poll of the regular season, following a 28-10 win over Troy.

The Rebels, who showed promise on defense as well as in the running game during Week 1, are still looking for an answer at the quarterback position. USC transfer Jaxson Dart received the start versus the Trojans, totaling 194 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Fellow sophomore Luke Altmyer will get a chance to prove himself this weekend when Ole Miss welcomes Central Arkansas to Oxford.

As for Mississippi State, the Bulldogs put together an impressive 49-23 win over Memphis in the season-opener with quarterback Will Rogers tossing five touchdowns. The win didn’t go unnoticed by AP voters as Mike Leach’s squad received 10 votes this week, essentially placing the team at No. 36 in the nation.
