Governor Tate Reeves is calling a special session later this week regarding a $2.5 billion capital investment in the Golden Triangle.

According to a tweet sent out by Reeves, lawmakers will report to the capitol building in Jackson at 10 a.m. Wednesday to discuss what will be the “biggest economic development project in MS history.”

Multiple lawmakers have told SuperTalk Mississippi that they were informed of the decision Monday morning. The special session could be as short as one day.

The economic project is set to bring 1,000 new jobs with a $93,000 average salary to the area.

This is a developing story.
