An active shooter threat directed at Lawrence County High School has resulted in two individuals’ arrests, one of whom is a juvenile.
Lawrence County Sheriff Ryan Everett took to Facebook to discuss the incident. According to the sheriff, his office was made aware of threats posted on social media late Wednesday night.
“Shortly after 10:00 p.m, I began to receive multiple calls referencing an active shooter threat posted on social media and directed at Lawrence County High School,” Everett wrote. “We immediately began an investigation along with the Lawrence County School District Police Department. Shortly after midnight, we had one juvenile detained and is still detained at this time. We are currently working with the LCSD PD to finish this investigation and ensure that our children are kept safe while they are receiving an education.”
The sheriff’s department has enacted a safety plan for the school following the threat.
