The city of Natchez has been nominated for the Travel and Leisure World’s Best Awards competition, along with two of the city’s most historical places to stay—Dunleith Historic Inn and Monmouth Historic Inn.
According to Jessica Cauthen, Marketing Manager for Visit Natchez, the city will be competing with other nominees from across the nation for the winning title.
“The city of Natchez has been nominated for the Best City in the United States category and two of our properties—Dunleith Historic Inn and Monmouth Historic Inn—have both been nominated for Best Hotels in Mississippi,” Cauthen stated.
Cauthen added that although there are cash prizes for the winners, the competition is one way the city brings in visitors and stays on the map. After points are tallied, one winner will be given $15,000, two winners will each be awarded $5,000 cash, and $1,000 cash will be distributed to three winners.
“It takes a lot of things, but really they look at reviews, they look at visitor experiences, they look at different community partners that do their best to push this out and get it in front of the right people,” Cauthen said.
Only one vote per category will be allowed for each registered email address until voting closes on February 27.
“It’s not an every day kind of vote,” Cauthen added. “One vote goes a long way.”
