Body found in Big Black River, not yet confirmed as Ebony Owens

A body has been found in the Big Black River, according to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones.

“An unidentified body has been located in the Big Black River. Resources have been requested to the scene to assist with the recovery and the coroner has been notified. More information to come,” Jones wrote on Twitter.

At this time, it’s unknown if the body is that of Ebony Owens, the Edwards mother-of-two was killed last week and believed to be dumped in the Big Black River. After speaking with Ebony Owens’ husband, Michael Owens, authorities charged him with murder, arson, sexual battery of a minor, and sexual assault of a minor.

Ebony, 36, was originally reported missing on Wednesday, March 15 before her car was found later that day burnt up not far from the couple’s home. Investigators later found evidence connecting Michael, 36, to the disappearance and killing of Ebony.
