A little over one month after a devastating tornado wiped out much of Rolling Fork, Good Morning America made a trip to the Delta town on Wednesday with none other than Mississippi native Robin Roberts leading the national broadcast.
Roberts and company set up shop at the campus of South Delta High School and showcased the disastrous impact the severe storm had on the community while also highlighting the resilience of Rolling Fork residents.
After the show highlighted stories of those impacted by the storm, Roberts presented $10,000 in gift cards from Double Quick to Chucks Dairy Bar owner Tracy Harden to disperse to those who have been traveling to get supplies for victims.
In addition, a $20,000 check from Big Lots, the furniture and home decor retailer, was presented to South Delta High School principal Sam Matthews to go towards recovery efforts.

“I just want to tell you all that we are gonna be with you,” Roberts assured the Rolling Fork audience. “We know that this is just one phase that you are in the removal process of the debris. You will then rebuild.”
Roberts, who began her career at WDAM in Hattiesburg, pledged that Good Morning America would return to Rolling Fork for the next phase of “Mississippi Strong” when the city begins to be rebuilt.
