Dangerous heat is expected to linger late this week and into this weekend as high temperatures reach nearly 100 degrees and heat index values top out between 110 to 115 degrees for much of Mississippi.

Mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms could be severe with damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall possible in the morning. Highs will be in the lower to mid-90s with heat index readings from 104-109. Mostly clear tonight with lows in the mid-70s.
Central Mississippi
Sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms could be severe, with damaging winds. Highs will be in the mid-90s with heat index readings from 114 to 119. Mostly clear tonight with lows in the mid-70s.
Southern Mississippi
Sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs will be in the mid to upper 90s with heat index readings from 114 to 119. Mostly clear tonight with lows in the mid to upper 70s.
