Burn ban lifted at multiple state parks and lakes

posted in: Mississippi News | 0

Less than 24 hours after a burn ban was issued at all state parks and fishing lakes across Mississippi, wildlife officials have lifted the ban from 10 state parks.

Per a release from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP), the following parks are now open to open fires:

  • Trace
  • Legion
  • Lake Lowndes
  • John Kyle
  • Tombigbee
  • P. Coleman
  • Wall Doxey
  • George P. Cossar
  • Hugh White
  • Leroy Percy

In addition, the burn ban has been lifted on Lake Lamar Bruce Lake and Tippah County Lake. Open fires – which include campfires, bonfires, fire pits, fire rings, burn barrels, debris burning, and field burning – are still prohibited for the time being at all other state parks and fishing lakes.

Those who deliberately violate the burn ban will face fines of up to $500.
