Local and federal officials are investigating after shots were fired outside the home of U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith.
Sources tell SuperTalk Mississippi News that gunfire took place at or near the Republican senator’s home in Lincoln County Sunday afternoon around 12:45 p.m.
Family members were said to have been arriving at the residence after church when they heard the shots. No one was injured in the incident, but casings from a firearm were reportedly found outside the home.
It is unknown if Hyde-Smith was home at the time of the shooting. Her office has yet to respond to a request for comment.
