A $100 million sports complex is coming to central Mississippi.
The city of Gluckstadt on Tuesday confirmed that 828 Sports Ventures and Turn Key Properties have entered into an official land agreement on a 43-acre site for the future travel destination dubbed the Gluckstadt MegaDome Sports Complex.
The acquired land belonging to Canton Academy alumni and Gluckstadt residents, Stuart and Katie Warren, owners of Turn Key Properties in Madison, is located near the I-55/I-20 corridor.
Featured at the facility will be a multitude of indoor courts for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball as well as football, baseball, and softball fields. There will also be swimming pools, meeting space, an on-site hotel, and local restaurants.
Officials project that the Gluckstadt MegaDome is expected to create upwards of $50 million in annual economic impact for the Madison County community and central Mississippi.
828 Sports Ventures brings more than 50 years of professional experience between Chief Executive Officer and NBA certified player agent DeAngelo Simmons as well as Mississippi-native and longtime private equity investment executive and Chief Investment Officer, Larry Fortune, Chief Operating Officer, Brandon Williams, and Director of Sports Tourism, Don Staley.
“In my continued conversations and communication with both Mr. Simmons, Mr. Fortune, and 828 Sports Ventures, it is apparent that they possess the utmost passion and the necessary expertise to navigate a project of this size and I believe this project to be in the best interest of the city and people of Gluckstadt,” Mayor Walter Morrison said.
Additional details about the complex will be made available during Thursday night’s Board of Aldermen meeting in Gluckstadt.
