The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has issued an updated damage report from Tuesday and Wednesday’s severe weather.
According to MEMA, damage assessments now show that one person died in Scott County, and another was injured in Grenada County. Additionally, 72 homes have either been damaged or destroyed in Grenada, Hinds, Marshall, Scott, Warren, and Yazoo counties.
Weather, that’s included at least two tornadoes touching down in the last 24 hours, continues to roll through the state.
UPDATE: The timing of today’s (4-10-24) storms has been updated. Some southern and coastal areas could still see widespread damaging winds and tornadoes.

As of 1:46 p.m., over 51,000 residents were without power with the most outages coming in Hinds (12,243), Madison (6,355), Warren (4,077), Wilkinson (3,940), Pike (3,144), Amite (2,617), Rankin (2,358), and Jackson (2,200) counties.
“The state of Mississippi continues to work with local and emergency managers to assess damage and respond as necessary,” Gov. Tate Reeves wrote on X. “Please continue to monitor emergency alerts and pay attention to the weather in your area.”
