Southern Miss alumnus Karen Waldrup is heading to the live semifinal of The Voice after fans chose her over three other contestants during Tuesday night’s episode of the NBC singing competition.

Waldrup advancing to the Top 9 came after she wowed both the coaches and the crowd on Monday night with her cover of Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance.”

Reba McEntire, in her second season as a coach, called it a “wonderful” rendition of a difficult song to cover and the fans agreed. Joining Waldrup (Team Dan + Shay) in the Top 9 are:

  • Asher HaVon (Team Reba)
  • Bryan Olesen (Team Legend)
  • Josh Sanders (Team Reba)
  • Maddi Jane (Team Chance)
  • Madison Curblo (Team Dan + Shay)
  • Nathan Chester (Team Legend)
  • Serenity Arce (Team Chance)

The Voice airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 8/7c on NBC.
