A Mississippi Gulf Coast man is behind bars for raping a minor.

Officers with the Gulfport Police Department booked 25-year-old Decruis Furre Tatum on Monday in connection to a call regarding a sexual assault incident involving a minor just one week prior.

Through the course of an investigation conducted by law enforcement, it was determined that Tatum had sexual relations with the minor.

Tatum turned himself in to the police and took responsibility for his reported actions. He is charged with capital rape and was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of his $500,000 bond.
