A Tupelo man has been locked up for allegedly committing sex crimes against multiple children.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson confirms that Zachary Adams, 27, was arrested on Monday and charged with four counts of enticement of a child for sexual purposes as well as two counts of touching a child for lustful purposes.

Adams’ arrest comes 10 days after deputies received a report of an adult male having inappropriate communication, of a sexual nature, with a young child. Law enforcement developed Adams as a suspect and investigated text messages he had reportedly sent to a female minor.

The messages exchanged between the two parties led police to determine that Adams had inappropriate conduct, including electronic communication and physical contact. All three children are under the age of 13.

During the investigation, authorities discovered that Adams had a previous conviction of child neglect relating to a child in his care, according to court documents.

Adams previously pleaded guilty to child neglect and the sentence for that conviction was suspended. Due to that specific conviction, he was not required to register as a sexual offender.

He is now being held behind bars without bond.
