Summers just got more fun in the Mississippi Pine Belt.
The highly-anticipated Serengeti Springs water park adjacent to the Hattiesburg Zoo is now open to the public. In August 2022, the Hattiesburg Convention Commission launched initial plans to open the water park in 2023, but constant rain in the area, as well as supply chain issues, caused unforeseen holdups in the construction process.
But the outdoor entertainment facility has officially come to fruition with the public now having the opportunity to soak up sunlight and enjoy water-themed rides.
One of the water park’s largest attractions, the Fusion Fortress, features nine slides at varying heights. There are both straight and spiral slides, with one slide specifically named the “Serengeti Swirl.”
Additional features at the Fusion Fortress include the following:
- A Lazy River
- Multiple water-play areas
- Two water bucket dump stations
- 19 spray toys on the Life Floor
- Restrooms with changing rooms, showers, and lockers
- A swim-up pool and bar
- Food trucks and concession stations
