An arrest has been made in connection to a state hospital patient dying in Mississippi.
Keshawn Carpenter, listed on LinkedIn as a direct care worker at East Mississippi State Hospital in Meridian, was taken into custody by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and charged with murder, per the Scotty Ray Report. Carpenter is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center with his bond set at $250,000.
On May 31, local law enforcement responded to a call at EMSH. The patient, who was later identified as Christopher Hamilton, was transferred to Jackson for further care before dying on June 2.
Hamilton’s cause of death has not been disclosed, but with the news of Carpenter’s arrest, foul play is suspected.
