The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science in Jackson will be celebrating World Snake Day on Friday, July 19 with a special snake-themed exhibit.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., visitors will have the chance to learn more about snakes with an up and close personal view of the reptiles. Per museum officials, there will be plenty of opportunities to touch different snake species, of course with trained personnel close by.

“At World Snake Day, you can see and touch live snakes, learn the value of Mississippi’s native snakes, and learn how to distinguish venomous and non-venomous snakes,” MMNS director Charles Knight explained.

Research scientists will be on site to answer any questions snake enthusiast may have. In addition, there will be crafts and other educational activities for visitors of all ages to partake in.

MMNS officials say this is an event you don’t want to let slither by! Tickets are now available. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (60+), $6 for youth (3-18), and free for anyone under the age of three. The World Snake Day exhibit is also included with Mississippi Museum of Natural Science Foundation Membership.
