Authorities have identified the man who was shot and killed after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home.
Forrest County Coroner Lisa Klem confirmed that Burnell Gould, 27, is the man whose life was taken during the fatal incident. Police report that gunfire rang out Friday morning at a residence on West 10th Avenue.
Law enforcement were notified by an unidentified woman that her ex-boyfriend was aggressively knocking on her door. Gould proceeded to barge into the home and was promptly shot by another man inside the house. The shooting victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Though no arrests have been made at this time, some have taken to social media accusing the ex-girlfriend, whose name has not been released by authorities, of setting Gould up to be shot.
“SHE CALLED HIM TO COME OVER THERE KNOWING SHE HAD ANOTHER MAN OVER THERE … say it with me SETUP ! And the media gone always paint someone out to be a bad person when they not he thought something was wrong because she wasn’t opening the door so he got in to check on her and was killed because of that,” one Facebook user commented regarding the matter.
Police are continuing to investigate the fatal shooting. More information will be provided when made available.
