A Mississippi community college employee has been arrested and charged with embezzlement.

State Auditor Shad White announced that special agents from his office took Timothy Lucius into custody on Tuesday morning. Lucius, a former IT technician at Itawamba Community College, is accused stealing multiple pieces of electronic equipment owned by the school and selling them on his personal eBay store.

Lucius was served with a $3,409.74 demand letter at the time of his arrest.

“We will continue to work on cases big and small to get results for the taxpayer,” White said. “Thank you to our investigators who uncovered this scheme.”

If found guilty, Lucius faces up to $5,000 in fines and 20 years in prison.
