Mississippi State women’s golf standout Julia Lopez Ramirez has topped the World Amateur Golf Rankings ahead of her senior season in Starkville.

Lopez Ramirez has hovered in the top three of the world rankings in the last two months but hadn’t reached the peak position despite defeating the previous No. 1 ranked player. Her historic run includes an individual SEC title, along with helping the Bulldogs beat LSU to claim the program’s first-ever SEC Team Championship.

The Spaniard also earned Golfweek and WCGA First Team All-America honors following her junior season. In gathering the recognition, she tied Bulldog alum and LPGA star Ally Ewing with six career All-America awards. Ewing is currently ranked the world’s No. 14 player.

Mississippi State women’s golf became one of just 14 teams in the county to make each of the last three NCAA Championships, the first time in program history that MSU had achieved the feat.
