Mississippians will have an additional day to enjoy this year’s state fair.

Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson announced the 165th Mississippi State Fair will now run from Thursday, October 3, through Monday, October 14, at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson. It was previously scheduled to end on Sunday, October 13.

“The family fun will continue for an extra day at this year’s State Fair,” Gipson said. “We’re excited to announce the schedule will include Columbus Day, which falls on Monday, October 14. So, all the students and parents off for the holiday will have the opportunity to enjoy another day of fair fun. The upcoming 12-day event will feature food, games, rides, vendors, and all-new attractions across the expansive 105-acre fairgrounds.”

Gipson also announced that the Mississippi State Fair is adding the Agri-Puppets and Tumbleweed Crossing attractions inside Frontier Village this year. Agri-Puppets, an educational puppet show, tells a unique story focusing on agriculture and animals. The Tumbleweed Crossing show will take spectators back in time to the Wild West.

In addition, an all-new barnyard exhibit will be housed inside Barn 6 and will feature 4-H and FFA farm animals, star exhibitors, and hands-on learning experiences for prospective farmers and others interested in learning about the state’s abundant agricultural resources.

For the first time in Mississippi State Fair history, visitors can purchase general admission tickets and fair ride wristbands online. Pre-sale tickets are available now through October 2 here for $8 per person. Online tickets purchased after October 2, as well as tickets purchased at the gates, will be $10 per person.
