Ergon, the international oil company founded and headquartered in Mississippi, is growing again.

The company was joined by Mississippi leaders and stakeholders on Tuesday, July 30 to break ground on an expansion of its Flowood headquarters. An extra 200 jobs will be created in the $85 million expansion, which will double the current size of the headquarters.

Governor Tate Reeves was in attendance, noting the growth of Ergon after starting with just two employees when it was founded in 1954:

The family-owned and operated business was founded by Leslie Hampton and now serves customers in more than 90 countries worldwide. The groundbreaking follows last year’s announcement of a $147 million expansion at the Port of Vicksburg.

The headquarter expansion is projected to be completed within one year.
