An investigation is underway after a central Mississippi teacher was struck by a vehicle outside of a Rankin County school on Thursday morning.
Officials report that the incident took place at Highland Bluff Elementary School in Flowood. The educator, whose name has not been released at this time, was taken to a local medical center to be treated for injuries sustained at the scene.
“The incident is under investigation by local authorities, and we are cooperating fully to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident,” a statement from the Rankin County School District reads. “We would like to thank our first responders and law enforcement for their quick response. Our thoughts are with all involved, and we are committed to supporting them and their families during this difficult time.”
The teacher’s current condition is unknown at this time. No arrests have been reported in connection with this case.
