A major shakedown at a Mississippi jail yielded a massive haul for law enforcement.
Officials report that police were able to seize more than 50 cellphones, alcohol, knives, homemade tattoo guns, multiple bags of marijuana, several bags of methamphetamine, WiFi hotspot modems, and homemade cellphone chargers at the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility on Thursday.
“This was another successful attempt to recover contraband that had made its way into the facility,” a statement from Yazoo County Sheriff Jeremy McCoy reads. “We would like to thank all of the different agencies that came in to assist in this operation. Good things happen when agencies work together!”
Sheriff’s offices in Humphreys, Bolivar, Leflore, and Sunflower counties as well as the Mississippi Highway Patrol assisted authorities in Yazoo County with the bust.
