A Pass Christian woman has pleaded guilty to the production of child pornography.

On Friday, Sarah Jane Bennett, 43, pleaded guilty after previously being arrested for using a child legally in her custody to produce visual depictions of the minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct. According to court records, Bennett’s cell phone was also confiscated with detectives finding multiple videos and images of child sexual abuse material involving the child in her custody.

Bennett is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 10, 2024, in Gulfport, and faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison. A federal district judge will determine her sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The FBI investigated the case with assistance from the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office Cyber Crimes Division, the Gulfport Police Department, and the Biloxi Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrea Jones is prosecuting the case.

Bennett’s crimes were identified as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
