Investigation underway after bomb threats at two DeSoto County high schools

Authorities are investigating bomb threats at two DeSoto County high schools.

Officials with the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a threat at Southaven High School on Wednesday around 11 a.m. At 12:07 p.m., another threat was reported at DeSoto Central High School.

In both instances, students, faculty, and staff were evacuated safely. Law enforcement is continuing to gather information surrounding the nature of the bomb threats.

“This office takes all threats to our students extremely seriously,” Sheriff Thomas Tuggle said. “We have been in contact with Superintendent (Cory) Uselton and his staff have been superb in assisting. We are working with our local, state, and federal partners to identify the source of these threats.”
