A man with eight active felony warrants relating to child sex crimes in North Carolina has been arrested in Richland.
Local police and U.S. Marshals received information that Mark Jacques Greene, of Raleigh, N.C., was staying at a Richland hotel. Greene’s vehicle was spotted at a local hotel during surveillance, and he was positively identified loading belongings into the vehicle.
Greene fled from law enforcement when officers initially attempted to detain him. But after he was surrounded by officers from both agencies, including two K-9 units, Greene surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident.
The fugitive’s outstanding warrants were for two counts of child rape, four counts of statutory sex offense with a child, and two counts of indecent liberties with a child. After Greene’s arrest, police reported that a credit card fraud operation was uncovered where the suspect was stealing bank account information and cloning cards with the stolen information.
Greene will be extradited back to North Carolina to stand trial.
