The Ole Miss football team is now a top-five program nationally after a historic 52-3 routing of Middle Tennessee State.
Lane Kiffin’s group is ranked No. 5 in the latest top-25 poll from the Associated Press. The Rebels (2-0) literally hit the ground running on Saturday with senior ball carrier Henry Parrish, Jr. recording 165 yards and a personal-best four touchdowns.
One week after shattering an SEC passing yards record held by now-NFL standout Joe Burrow, veteran Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart went on to mount an SEC record of 24 straight completions in a single game. The previous record by an Ole Miss quarterback was 19 consecutive completions by former Rebel Matt Corral versus Vanderbilt in 2020. In addition to the single-game feat, Dart had also completed his last six passes versus Furman one week prior, equaling 30 consecutive completions over the span of two games. This accomplishment tied a conference record held by Tennessee’s Tee Martin in 1999.
Dart finished 25 of 27 passing for 377 yards and one passing touchdown. He also had a rushing touchdown against the Blue Raiders. In the process, the signal caller etched his name as the No. 4 passer in Ole Miss history with 7,133 yards, surpassing Chad Kelly.
After recording 655 yards of total offense and holding Middle Tennessee State to just 279, Ole Miss left Vaught-Hemingway Stadium a dominant victor.
Dominant showing on all fronts aside, the Rebels’ movement in the polls was largely due to former No. 5 Notre Dame’s upset loss to Northern Illinois. The full top 25, which features eight SEC teams, can be found below:
