Young anglers in Mississippi are invited to cast a rod and reel at the youth fishing rodeo at Neshoba County Lake this weekend.
Beginning at 7 a.m. on Saturday, youths 15 and under will have the chance to try to reel in catfish at the body of water just outside of Philadelphia.
Participants will receive goodies and compete for prizes. Youth fishing rodeos feature educational activities focusing on fish, fishing, and conservation provided by biologists from the state’s Fisheries Bureau and Mississippi Museum of Natural Science, along with volunteer anglers.
Additionally, the events serve as an opportunity to learn more about outdoor safety. The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks’ Law Enforcement Bureau provides will provide boating safety information.
Due to the fishing rodeo, the boat ramp at Neshoba County Lake will be closed on Saturday and will re-open on Sunday.
