Law enforcement investigating electronic threat directed at Northwest Rankin Middle School

Authorities are investigating an electronic threat directed at Northwest Rankin Middle School in Flowood on Tuesday morning.

According to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened just after 8:30 a.m. The law enforcement department and the Safety and Security Division of the Rankin County School District are actively assessing the threat.

Rankin County School District officials have confirmed that every possible safety precaution is being exercised to ensure the safety and well-being of the students. A heightened presence of law enforcement has been spotted on Highway 25 and other roads surrounding Northwest Rankin Middle School and nearby Northwest Rankin High School.

At this time, no arrests have been announced. Police have not specified the nature of the threat levied at the educational center.
