Gov. Tate Reeves has issued an update as Francine continues to move through Mississippi.
In a social media post, Reeves confirmed no injuries have been reported as of 7:40 a.m. as thousands remain without power. Several roads are still closed in southern and central Mississippi as heavy rain is expected through Thursday afternoon.
I want to provide an update on the storms that are impacting Mississippi.
As of now, no injuries have been reported, and approximately 51,000 are without power. This is down from a high of approximately 64,000. Over 160 people used shelters last night.

Ahead of Francine’s landfall in Louisiana, Reeves declared a state of emergency to more efficiently deploy government resources to impacted areas of the state.
Francine struck as a Category 2 hurricane on Wednesday evening and subsequently weakened into a tropical storm. On Thursday morning, it was downgraded to a tropical depression.
