In 20 years, the M-Braves welcomed more than 3.5 million visitors to Trustmark Park. The team won a pair of league titles, developed a plethora of high-profile prospects, and left fans with memories that will last a lifetime. Now the Atlanta Braves’ Double-A affiliate will begin a new journey in Columbus, Georgia.
After two decades of action in central Mississippi, the M-Braves played their final ballgame in Trustmark Park versus the Tennessee Smokies on Sunday, September 8 — a contest the home team lost 10-3. The Braves’ last season in the Magnolia State officially came to an end via a 7-4 loss at Biloxi.
While one chapter of professional baseball in the Jackson metro area has come to a close, another one will soon begin. Just two weeks ago, officials held a press conference at Trustmark Park to announce that a new Frontier League club will make Pearl its home.
Mississippians have just four days left to determine whether the team’s name will be the Mississippi Grits, Mud Monsters, or Soul Shakers. Votes can be made here. The team is expected to begin a 90-game schedule on May 8, 2025, with the opening season concluding over Labor Day weekend.
