As Mississippi’s lone professional golf tournament continues in Jackson, some big news regarding the event’s title sponsorship has been teed up.
On Friday, officials announced that Wayne-Sanderson Farms will remain the primary financial backer of the Sanderson Farms Championship held annually at the Country Club of Jackson until 2025.
The update comes less than two months after tournament director Steve Jent said 2024 would be the final year with the major poultry producer as the title sponsor.

Laurel-based Sanderson Farms, which recently underwent a merger to become Wayne-Sanderson Farms, has been the title sponsor since 2013.
Since becoming the title sponsor, the Sanderson Farms Championship has raised more than $17 million with its primary charity of choice being Children’s of Mississippi. Other local charities are also supported through the event.
While the title sponsorship spot is filled for another year, Jent still plans to hit the ground running to ensure the continuation of the tournament for future years. Jent is optimistic about the prospects of another entity taking on the role of bankrolling the wildly popular event.
“This is our 57th year. I think we’ve got nine lives and we haven’t used them yet,” Jent said, assuring golf enthusiasts that the tournament is not going anywhere. “I’m pretty excited about where we can take this for the next few years.”
