Argument over tip results in two people shot at Gulfport bar

A D’Iberville man is behind bars for allegedly shooting two people over a dispute about a tip at a Gulfport bar over the weekend.

Police handcuffed Clarence Thompson III, 35, on Monday stemming from a Saturday incident in which the subject allegedly opened fire into an establishment in the 220 block of Courthouse Road and struck two unidentified individuals.

Thomas had allegedly been escorted out of the business after the argument went awry. He is reported to have retrieved a rifle from his vehicle and fired multiple rounds before fleeing the scene.

Officials have not confirmed the name of the business in which the incident took place, but a quick search of the area found Orangutang’s Daiquiris & Bar to match the establishment’s description.

Both shooting victims were transported to a local hospital and were listed in stable condition. Thompson was on parole after serving three years of a 20-year sentence for a 2015 shooting in Hattiesburg.

He now faces two counts of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling

Anyone with additional information about the shooting is urged to contact the Gulfport Police Department at (228)868-5959 or Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at (877)787-5898.
