A North Carolina man has been arrested in Mississippi in connection with a possible kidnapping.
Brandon Police Chief Joseph French said his department received a call Monday from the Wake County Sheriff’s Office in east-central North Carolina about a vehicle suspected to be involved in a possible kidnapping of a juvenile.
Officers in Brandon located the vehicle at a local business. When they attempted to make a traffic stop, the suspect fled on Interstate 20. After a brief pursuit, the vehicle was stopped with help from the Pearl Police Department.
Jerry Carredondo-Rocha, 18, was taken into custody without further incident. The missing juvenile was found safe inside the vehicle.
Carredondo-Rocha was charged with one count of felony evasion and transported to the Rankin County Detention Center. Additional charges in North Carolina are pending.
