A Texas man has been jailed after allegedly nearly striking a Mississippi deputy with his vehicle.

The Jones County Sheriff’s Department reports that a pair of officers were working a traffic enforcement detail on Moselle-Seminary Road on Wednesday. A driver, later identified as 49-year-old Toby Lindsey, is said to have driven through the checkpoint, nearly striking one of the officers in the process.

Lindsey was apprehended by authorities and charged with DUI refusal — meaning he did not take a breathalyzer test — possession of a controlled substance, careless driving, and not possessing a driver’s license.

He is being held in the Jones County Detention Center.
