The newly minted chief of staff of Southern Miss football, Sharrod Everett, will take on a new leadership role in addition to his duties in Hattiesburg.

After serving as the National Football Operations Organization’s (NFOO) vice president in 2024, Everett has been tabbed as the organization’s president.

The NFOO is comprised of around 1,200 football operations personnel at each NCAA level. A ruling committee is made up of representatives from each FBS conference and at-large positions held by FCS, Division II, and Division III members.

“I’m so excited to represent this organization on the national level,” Everett said. “We have such a diverse group of football administrators that have a transformational influence on their student athletes, coaches, and administrators. I’m blessed to be able to use my platform and experiences in football operations to pay it forward.”

Along with Everett’s leadership role with the NFOO, he has also served on the College Football Playoff (CFP) Expansion Sports Administrators Group and has been a finalist for the Football Scoop National Director of Football Operations of the Year award for three straight years (2022-24).

“Sharrod has been a major part of the NFOO for a long time and has worked tirelessly alongside so many other key members to advance this group and the profession,” Southern Miss head coach Charles Huff said. “To see him get a chance to lead this group is exciting, he has been a key piece of our staff and has done a phenomenal job, and I know he will take great pride and honor in leading the NFOO as well!”

Before coming to Hattiesburg as the chief of staff, he had worked in the same position under Charles Huff at Marshall since 2021.
