Activities are resuming as regularly scheduled at Northwest Rankin High School despite a bomb threat allegedly levied at the educational center on Friday.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department reports that authorities were notified about an electronic bomb threat at Northwest Rankin High School, located off Highway 25 in Flowood, around 9:15 a.m. A collaborative group of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies responded to the scene to investigate the threat.
Two hours later, officials notified the public that no suspicious materials were found at the high school, nor was there believed to be any imminent threat to students or staff.
“After a thorough search of the school property, nothing suspicious has been found. The schools will be returning to normal movement on campus,” a statement from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department reads. “Although school activities have returned to normal, this remains an ongoing investigation.”
No arrests have been announced at this time. Law enforcement has also not identified any potential suspects. The latest incident comes just five months after an individual was apprehended by police for a digital threat directed at Northwest Rankin Middle School.
