Harrison County Sheriff Matt Haley said the body of a 6-year-old girl was discovered Sunday.
Deputies responded to the area of F. Taylor Road and Saucier Fairley Road in reference to a missing child, Gracelyn Vick. Vick’s family advised that she went outside to play in the front yard around noon and went missing shortly after.
During the search of the area, Vick was located at approximately 6 p.m. near the residence. She was pronounced deceased on the scene.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday at the state crime lab in Biloxi. No further details have been released as the investigation into Vick’s death continues. Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office at 228-897-1364.
