Those providing medical care to society’s most vulnerable people will be celebrated across the U.S. in May for National Skilled Nursing Care Week. Following in line with the national week of honor, Gov. Tate Reeves signed a proclamation that cements May 11-17, 2025, as “Skilled Nursing Care Week” in Mississippi.

Reeves signed the proclamation Tuesday surrounded by healthcare leaders. The decree emphasizes the national theme “Tapestry of Life”.

Gov. Tate Reeves’ proclamation cementing May 11-17 as “Skilled Nursing Care Week in Mississippi.”

“The State of Mississippi is committed to quality health care, and our citizens can take this time to join all skilled nursing care centers, their staff, volunteers, residents and their families and friends embracing the essence of the theme “Tapestry of Life” during this special week,” a portion of the proclamation reads.

“I…encourage every citizen to honor both our vulnerable citizens who receive care and the dedicated ones providing care.”

Beginning on Mother’s Day, May 11, the “Tapestry of Life” theme aims to celebrate the connections, resilience, and strength that unites residents and families to caregivers and staff that make up the larger “tapestry” of the system.
