An investigation is underway after a detainee was found dead at the Raymond Detention Center.
According to Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones, Anthony Terrell Johnson was found unresponsive in his cell on Tuesday at 8:15 p.m. Jones said Johnson appeared to have been assaulted, but his cause of death remains under investigation.

Johnson, 37, was arrested on April 20 by Capitol Police in Jackson for simple assault and auto theft.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting the investigation.
