The Mississippi Highway Patrol needs your vote.

Showing off one of their 2024 Ford Mustang squad cars, MHP officials are looking to win the American Association of State Troopers Best Looking Cruiser Contest. Playing to Mississippi being the Birthplace of America’s Music, the Mustang was pictured in front of a couple of historic landmarks.

Officials utilized a mural of legendary “King of the Delta Blues” Robert Johnson, located against the backdrop of Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale, for one of the photo-ops before venturing down to the crossroads of U.S. 49 and U.S. 61, where Johnson is rumored to have sold his soul to the devil.

Clarksdale was also portrayed on the big screen as the setting for the 2025 ticket office sensation “Sinners.” Film director Ryan Coogler hosted a public screening of the horror movie, alongside cast and crew members, in Clarksdale back in May.

“This blend of rich culture and modern creativity makes Clarksdale the ultimate backdrop for showcasing our stunning cruiser,” a statement from MHP reads. “Join us in celebrating not only the sleek beauty of our cruiser but also the vibrant spirit of Mississippi as we shine a spotlight on what makes our state so special!”

According to Captain Criss Turnipseed, MHP’s vote total is lower than a large number of its peers, but a collaborative effort of proud Mississippians taking “30 seconds” of their time could catapult the agency in the contest.

“We’re down in the race a little bit, not toward the bottom, but one good session of voting — it takes about 30 seconds — could get us right back in this thing. It might help us win this thing,” Turnipseed said on Good Things with Rebecca Turner. “We can do this. It would be the comeback of the ages.”

Votes can be cast here. Voting will end on Friday, July 11 at 11 p.m. CT.
