Southern Miss announces attendees for Sun Belt Football Media Days

College football media days are right around the corner, meaning the 2025 season will be here before you know it.

The Sun Belt will gather in New Orleans July 22-23. Southern Miss will be available to reporters on July 22, and not only will new head coach Charles Huff be in attendance but so will transfer quarterback Braylon Braxton and linebacker Chris Jones.

Huff was announced as head coach in Hattiesburg in December and brings with him a stellar track record. Leaving a Marshall program that won the Sun Belt championship a season ago, he will try to turn around a Golden Eagle group that went 1-11 in 2024 and has won a mere four games over the past two years.

While at Marshall, Huff compiled a 32-20 record across four seasons and led the Thundering Herd to four postseason berths. He previously served as an assistant coach at Penn State, Alabama, and Mississippi State.

Braxton, who is one of Huff’s big-splash signings in the transfer portal, decided to stick with his head coach after winning Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year and title game MVP with Marshall in 2024. The rising redshirt senior quarterback tossed for 1,622 yards with 19 touchdowns and two interceptions last season. He added 601 yards and four scores on the ground.

Jones, one of the few remaining players from the Will Hall era, is destined to be one of the team’s leaders on the defensive side of the ball this year. The Hartfield Academy alum and rising sophomore compiled 46 tackles, one sack, one interception, and two forced fumbles a season ago.

Sun Belt Media Days will be held at the New Orleans Marriott Warehouse Arts District in downtown and will be broadcast on ESPN+. The exact time has not been released for when Southern Miss attendees will take the main stage on July 22.
